The Dinner Party

A dinner has been planned, Lord, 

The date it has been set, 

The guests are all invited, 

Preparations not yet met!  

There're pine boughs to arrange and light, 

Then baking of the pie,

There’s cleaning and arranging, 

Then gifts to plan and buy.

Right now, I feel immobilized, 

Resistant to even move, 

Help me, Lord, to let this go,

To find the ‘can-do’ grove.

There is so much to do, Lord, 

I know all will get done, 

For You will be there with Me, 

Working there as One.

For now, I’ll drink my coffee,

I’ll join with You this day, 

Then listen as You guide Me,

I’ll follow what You say. 

All will be accomplished, dear,

Relax, enjoy each thing, 

Remember that the party, 

To others, joy will bring!

Your age is not a factor, 

Your energy not to low,

A party planned together,

Is filled with love’s sweet glow. 

Love will light our way, dear, 

It is God’s meaning there,

The party will exude this love, 

’Twill shine bright everywhere!

In closing, let Me say again,

The words so now well known, 

I am with you always, 

You are not alone!
