Beyond The Gift, The Giver

It was in careful listening,

That love came pouring through, 

This love shone on a Rose bud, pink—

She blossomed in its hue!

A friend, a birthday, a gift well made,

Inspired by guidance, there, 

Careful work and listening, Lord,

Your love was brought to bear. 

And so, a gift was given,

A gesture small, it seems,

Yet reverberations multiplied,

Love’s energizing beams. 

Beyond the gift, the giver,

Beyond the receiver, too, 

Love ripples in an endless stream,

God’s meaning coming through.  

Today, a shining example,

To add to all the rest,

When listening to guidance,

Love showed us what was best.

Now in quiet reflection, 

As the day we do review, 

How happy was the outcome, 

And love made all things new! 

Gratitude is called for, 

Thanks spills from my heart, 

For you, Lord, and your wisdom, 

My Lord, how great Thou art!
